Mike Flynn - Music Consultancy Sessions
As someone who’s worked in the music industry for more than 20 years, I’ve amassed a wealth of experience in a wide range of roles. These include music journalism, copy writing, press releases, biographies, building and developing websites, producing/scripting radio shows, editing magazines, playing, producing and performing music, and curating festival line-ups. I have a comprehensive professional overview of all sides of the music world with a huge number of contacts across all areas of the music industry.
I have been a judge on the prestigious Mercury Music Prize from 2008 – 2015 judging panel with Elbow winners of the first prize I judged, with Benjamin Clementine the last in 2015. I’ve also hosted musician masterclasses for music producers Serious at the London Jazz Festival with Andy Sheppard and Robert Glasper, also interviewing Joshua Redman and Christian McBride at the Guildhall School Of Music.
I also lead journalism workshops on the Write Stuff course that's part of the London Jazz Festival. I'm also a guest lecturer on jazz media at the Royal Academy of Music, speaking to the jazz course students about how best to deal with and approach the music press, as well as presentation and timing issues of how best to release their own music with the greatest impact.
As such I want to share my knowledge with anyone who thinks they will benefit from a tailored, one-to-one consultancy session where we can discuss ideas and come up with tangible solutions to the myriad aspects of producing and completing a project.
